Practical Experience

Since the formation of our City Council many years ago, Richardson has been fortunate to have attracted a number of skilled business persons from a wide range of professions to participate in its governance. However, one discipline has largely been absent from Council… the professional engineer.

Based on the outcomes of the election that culminated in last Saturday’s general Election Day, a majority of voters have indicated their interest in electing an at-large City Council member with the real, practical capabilities and technical experience that I bring to the table, particularly in the infrastructure space. The fact is, Richardson is entering into a period of advanced demand for updating of streets, sidewalks, water and sewer lines, culverts, flood management resources and other basic assets of our City.

As an engineer, the up-front value is my real-life experience that comes from assisting cities across the Metroplex to efficiently and effectively address critical infrastructure challenges. We are fortunate to have a highly capable professional staff in Richardson, but the opportunity exists for the City to further tune its overall approach to prioritizing and pursuing the most critical areas for infrastructure redevelopment. Having a City Council member who always is prepared to deliver expertise to Council colleagues on balancing these issues with the broader range of community needs and interests is a strong reason I’m seeking your vote.

Beyond my focused skills is an equally important trait that’s often unknown outside of my professional circle. Regardless of a specific engineering discipline, what all engineers have in common is an ability to solve complex problems for the greater good. Much to the dismay of most of our parents, we took things apart at very young ages to solve root problems. in adulthood, engineers use problem solving for good that goes far beyond concrete, gears and wires.

I’m ready to use my proven capabilities as a licensed professional engineer to help tackle challenges of all types. For those who previously voted for me in the general election, I need your vote again. For others who may be rethinking who the best candidate is to address major challenges, I hope you’ll carefully consider a vote for me in the upcoming runoff election for the at-large, Place 6 seat on the Richardson City Council.
